AUSTRALIA and NEW ZEALAND | Bright Eyes recently completed a tour of Australia and New Zealand, which involved a wide array of stops, from Hobart (Tasmania) to Christchurch, New Zealand.  

BOY GENIUS|  The Boy Genius EP "the rest - e.p." is now out.  Nate played and helped write the trumpet parts on the song  "Powers".

TOUR! | Bright Eyes was on the road in May in the midwest, and finishing up with a performance at the Corona Festival in Guadalajara, Mexico.

RHCP | Nate recently contributed to the new new RHCP releases, Unlimited Love and Return of the Dream Canteen, writing horn arrangements and orchestrations and playing trumpet

2022

TOUR! | Bright Eyes has concluded a busy year of touring throughout the US and Europe, finishing up the year with a performance at the Corona Festival in Mexico City.

MORE RECORDS!| New albums have been released by The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Broken Bells, Ezra Furman, and Disheveled Cuss, all featuring trumpet and/or horn arrangements by Nate.

CHRISTIAN LEE HUTSON| Christian Lee Hutson’s new album Quitters is now out. Walcott contributed piano, organ, mellotron, synthesizers, trumpet, and drum machine programming. You can see the video for “Age Difference”, featuring Nate on trumpet here.

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS| The new album Unlimited Love is out now. Nate played trumpet on the song “Aquatic Mouth Dance”.

BRIGHT EYES| Bright Eyes has announced a series of re-releases and “companion EP’s” containing re-imagined new recordings of the original versions. You can read more about it here.

LEON BRIDGES | Nate wrote the orchestral arrangements for Leon Bridges’s recent January 20 performance in Orlando, FL at Steinmetz Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

2021

NEW STUFF | The Districts released the first single “Do It Over” from their forthcoming album (produced by Joe Chicarelli), which features a horn arrangement and trumpet by Nate, and The Bad Suns have released the first single “Wishing Fountains” from their forthcoming album (produced by Eric Palmquist), which features a string arrangement by Nate. PLURALONE | Pluralone (the vehicle for singer-songwriter-guitarist Josh Klinghoffer) has released a new series of 7'‘ records on Org Music including “Across the Park”, featuring a string arrangement by Nate.

PHOEBE BRIDGERS | Phoebe Bridgers recently released a cover of Bo Burnham’s “That Funny Feeling”, which Walcott played trumpet on. All proceeds will go to Act Blue/Texas Funds.

THE STAND | The Stand soundtrack now available on vinyl via Lakeshore Records/Mondo

THE KILLERS | The Killers have released their new album Pressure Machine. Nate played the trumpets on the song “Cody”.

THE FELICE BROTHERS | The Felice Brothers have released their new album From Dreams to Dust. Nate wrote several horn arrangements for the record and also played trumpet it on it, including for the first single “Jazz On the Autobahn”, the video for which you can see here

BRIGHT EYES | Bright Eyes recently concluded a run of several dates on the East Coast, including a performance at the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium in Queens, NY.

THE STAND | The soundtrack for the CBS miniseries “The Stand” is out now on Lakeshore Records

ANGEL OLSEN | In anticipation of the release of Angel Olsen’s forthcoming box set “Song of the Lark and Other Far Memories”, Olsen has released “It’s Every Season (Whole New Mess)”, for which Walcott arranged the horns and played trumpet

PHOEBE BRIDGERS | Nate recently joined Phoebe Bridgers for her performance on Saturday Night Live. They played “Kyoto” and “I Know the End”, two songs from her recent album “Punisher” for which Nate wrote horn arrangements and played trumpet.

2020

THE STAND | Streaming now on Paramount+!

BRIGHT EYES | Down in the Weeds Where the World Once Was is out now. The album was written collaboratively by Conor Oberst, Walcott, and Mike Mogis during the year 2018, and recorded throughout 2019 at Electro-Vox (LA), Capitol (LA), and ARC (Omaha).

PHOEBE BRIDGERS | Phoebe Bridgers was recently nominated for several Grammys, including one for “Best Rock Performance” for the song “Kyoto”, featuring Walcott’s trumpet and horn arrangement.

THE STAND | Walcott is currently scoring CBS All Access’s limited-series adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand. The series stars Whoopi Goldberg, James Marsden, Alexander Skarsgård, Amber Heard, Owen Teague, Henry Zaga, Greg Kinnear, and Nat Wolff, and will premier December 17, 2020.

BRIGHT EYES | Bright Eyes has released the song “Miracle of Life”. It is now available everywhere as a part of the “7 inches for Planned Parenthood” series. All proceeds will go to Planned Parenthood.

LAVENDER DIAMOND | Lavender Diamond has another song out from their forthcoming album, called “In The Garden”, which features Nate on trumpet.

PLURALONE | Pluralone (the vehicle for singer-songwriter-guitarist Josh Klinghoffer) has a new record out called “I Don’t Feel Well”. Walcott wrote the string arrangements for several songs on the record.

BRIGHT EYES | “Mariana Trench” is out now, along with an accompanying video. You can hear the song and see the video here.

BRIGHT EYES | New music: “Persona Non Grata”, “Forced Convalescence”, and “One and Done” are out now and you can hear them here, here, and here, and in all the usual places. The songs feature, among other things, arrangements by Walcott for bagpipes, choir, and orchestra, respectively.

BRIGHT EYES | After a 9 year hiatus, Conor Oberst, Mike Mogis and Nathaniel Walcott have re-grouped to record and tour in 2020. The band has signed with indie label Dead Oceans, and a new album is forthcoming in 2020.

TRIALS OF GABRIEL | “Trials of Gabriel”, a Netflix docuseries telling the tragic story of the murder of Gabriel Fernandez and the system that failed to protect him, is now streaming. Nate orchestrated the score, which was performed by the London Contemporary Orchestra (recorded at London’s Air studios), and composed by John Dragonetti.

JEFF PARKER | "Max Brown", the first single from Jeff Parker's forthcoming full length album, (featuring Nate on trumpet) is out now via International Anthem and Nonesuch Records. UPDATE: The full-length album, “Suite for Max Brown”, is now out as well!

CHRISTIAN LEE HUTSON |Christian Lee Hutson has announced his new album “Beginners”, which will be released in May on Anti- records, for which Nate did the string arrangements, and played keyboards and trumpet. A video for the song “Lose This Number” has been released.

2019

CHRISTIAN LEE HUTSON | Christian Lee Hutson has released his new Phoebe Bridgers-produced single “Northsiders”, featuring strings written and arranged by Walcott

RHCP—GRAMMYS+AUSTRALIA+PYRAMIDS | Continuing to work with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Walcott recently performed at the 2019 Grammys, toured Australia and New Zealand, and performed in Egypt at the Pyramids of Giza.

2018

ORCHESTRATIONS FOR SESSIONS WITH THE LONDON CONTEMPORARY ORCHESTRA | Walcott recently concluded work doing orchestrations for sessions with the London Contemporary Orchestra for a soon-to-be-announced documentary - (more details soon!)

2017

Walcott recently concluded an 18 month long world tour with the Red Hot Chili Peppers as their pianist, keyboard player and trumpet player, in support of their most recent release, The Getaway.

MORE TOUR DATES! October, 2015 Walcott will be joining Ryan Adams for some promotional appearances for 1989, and will also be joining Conor Oberst for a run of shows throughout the midwest

TOUR DATES July, 2015 Walcott will be joining Iron and Wine and Ben Bridwell (of Band of Horses) for a short tour in late July, which will include a performance at the Newport Folk Festival

PERFORMANCES May/June 2015 Walcott joined First Aid Kit-(playing piano and leading a string ensemble)-for a special performance on one of the final episodes of the Late Show with David Letterman, and also joined Conor Oberst for a string of dates on the east coast, which included a performance at the Governor’s Ball Festival in New York City

TOUR joined Conor Oberst for a couple shows on the East Coast in late-July (at the Newport Folk Festival and at SummerStage in New York City’s Central Park) — and also for a string of shows in September, October, and December throughout the U.S. and Mexico. The tour included a show with the legendary John Prine at Los Angeles’s Greek Theater.

SONG ONE | January 23, 2015
The film Song One, which stars Anne Hathaway and Mary Steenburgen, and which features original songs written by Jenny Lewis and Jonathan Rice and a score co-composed by Lewis, Rice, and Walcott, is being released January 23rd, 2015.

THE FAULT IN OUR STARS | June 6, 2014
Walcott composed and recorded (alongside fellow Bright Eyes member Mike Mogis) the score for the film The Fault In Our Stars, which opened in the United States June 6 2014 as the number one film in the country.

Atlantic Records has released the score for The Fault in Our Stars, which is now available at your favorite local record store and at iTunes.

OLD-ISH NEWS | June 1, 2014

Some nice things happening lately!–Helped compose the score for Song One (starring Anne Hathaway) with the wonderful Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice–and helped them out a little with playing and arranging some things on some of the songs for the film as well…Also, recently wrapped up sessions with First Aid Kit for their new record, playing piano, hammond, and writing string and woodwind arrangements. Details soon!

Recently wrapped up a couple weeks in the studio with Zavalaz. More about that soon!

Stuck in Love is now available in iTunes! It was the #1 downloaded indie film for a couple weeks recently. Download it while supplies last!

Some new records are out (or coming out soon)

"Fanfare", the forthcoming Jonathan Wilson record, will be out soon. Played some trumpet on the album–and one of the songs involves accompanying the magical vocalising of David Crosby.

Also, the Man Man record "On Oni Pond" is out now on Anti- records. Played a little trumpet on this one too and also wrote a string arrangement for one of the songs.

New dates coming will be joining Gus Seyffert’s Willoughby for some dates soon and will also join Jonathan Wilson and his amazing band at his record release show at the Troubadour Nov 15. Specific info coming soon!

Some recent shows:
Recently did a little playing with old friends Jake Bellows, Conor Oberst, First Aid Kit, and the Felice Brothers up at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. What a beautiful festival!…also joined Conor and the Felice Bros in Santa Monica at the Way Over Yonder festival and at Pappy Harriet’s in Pioneertown.

Other recent performances: ….played with the Living Sisters at Inara George’s tribute to Eleni Mandell at the Theatricum Botanicum in Topanga Canyon recently…And also got to join others performing, such as Becky Stark, Gus Seyffert, Harper Simon and Benji Hughes–and was lucky enough to sit in with the amazing Van Dyke Parks on a song.

Oh and additionally, not long ago played Largo in Los Angeles with Johnathan Rice. It was a great night of music, as the Living Sisters were also on the bill, and was fortunate enough to be able to join them as well…
